After bidding a sad farewell to the mild and sunny autumn weather, 48 ladies from 5 Chiltern golf clubs buttoned up their warmest jackets and firmly pulled down their caps before embarking on the final golf day of the CLGL inaugural season.
This occasion was held at Chiltern Forest Golf Club and was superbly organised by Steph Rose.
The 8 teams of 6 played 2 BBs, 2 Greensomes and 2 Singles matches each. CF and CP fielded two teams each and there was an additional composite team.
Spirits were high in the clubhouse after the Tournament and the inevitable stories of triumph and despair were recounted.
All were treated to an excellent meal, followed by the prize-giving ceremony. Chiltern Forest were the winners on the day with Chartridge Park 1st Team the runners up.
Chiltern Forest were the runaway winners of the League with 45.5 points.
The Flame League Trophy was presented to Steph Rose by Gwynneth Cooke, who congratulated her and her team on their decisive win.
Very few points separated the other four clubs : PR/24, AP/22, CP/20 and OP/18.5.
The future of the League looks bright as its popularity around the Chiltern region has spread with other clubs keen to join.
We all look forward to another competitive and enjoyable season in 2008.
Chiltern Ladies Ryder Cup Day 2008
What a day !
60 ladies from eight clubs gathered at Chartridge Park to play in this the last meeting of the league season.
We were especially pleased to welcome two ladies from each of our new member clubs, Aylesbury Vale, Aldwickbury Park and Chesham and Ley Hill who made up a composite team.
As last year, each team of six played 2 BB, 2 Greensomes and 2 Singles matches. The matches were as keenly contested as any of the previous League matches ! Everyone was then ready to enjoy a great meal, lots of conversation and laughter and some regret that it was all over until next year.
Winners on the day were the home club Chartridge 1 and runners-up were Chartridge 2.
Next year's event will be held at Oakland Park.
Steph Rose was called upon to present the Flame League Trophy to the winners of the League this season. Congratulations to OAKLAND PARK who were the winners with 34 points. Runners-up were Aylesbury Park with 30 points and Chartridge Park were a close third with 29.5 points.
We now look forward to next year and our new set up of two pools.
Have a good winter, ladies.
